Summary

The role will deal with quality related issues, being the direct link with internal and external customers providing practical and common-sense solutions.

Leasing with the customer looking after the customers interests at the same time as protecting the company from undue and unnecessary demands.  A company KPI is customer PPM and the target is set at 50ppm.  The success of this role will be measured against this result, so the candidate will need to be resourceful and proactive.

The candidate will need to be a good organiser to ensure that each stage of the concerns process is completed on time to achieve customer 8D response times and needs.

This role will also support a supplier management process and provide cover for other quality engineers i.e. internal concerns, auditing etc.

As this is a customer and supplier facing role so there may be some travel within the UK and internationally required.  The candidate should therefore have a full current passport and be able and willing to travel (sometimes at a moments notice).

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Maintain and improve our ISO TS16949 quality system.
Liaise with internal departments to understand causes of issues and develop corrective and preventive action solutions
Manage internal problem investigations to develop 8D action plans and timings
Manage customers concerns from receipt to closure meeting customer deadlines for 8D submissions
Chaperone customer visits related to customer performance and 8D submissions
Participate in internal continuous improvement activity as quality representative and voice of the customer.
Maintain customer concerns data on an internal database providing management reports weekly and monthly on customer concern and open action status.
Have permanent communication with other departments to ensure 50 ppm a month

Education and Qualifications

Engineering degree is necessary
Six sigmas green or black belt (not a pre-requisite)
Continuous improvement methodology
Driving licence

 

Previous Experience

At least 5 years in automotive industry.
Fishbone/Ishikowa diagram/process
Continuous improvement methodologies and projects
8D process
5Y’s
Standard operating procedures (structure and uses)
APQP experience.
Flow diagrams
Control plans
Process Failure Mode and Affects Analysis
Computer literate – Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, Access
